Aftercare for your piercings!

Every persons body is different, what works for them may not work for you!

Rule #1: LEAVE IT ALONE!

Never touch your piercing with dirty hands. There is no need to be moving your jewelry at all.

(No twisting and turning.)
Do not use Isopropyl Alcohol, Neosporin, Hydrogen Peroxide, Bactine, Mouthwash with alcohol,

Ear Care Solution, Dial Soap, Any Bar Soaps, Iodine, Contact Solution, or Bacitracin. Your new

piercing is a puncture wound, typical first aid does not apply!

Products like Wound Wash saline spray and Simple Care piercing spray are very easy to use and free of harmful chemicals. Piercing aftercare spray is available for purchase at Serenity Body Arts.

Saturate a sterile piece of gauze with the saline solution and allow to soak on piercing for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day.

You do not need to move your jewelry or force off dried build-up. Let the area air dry.

When showering rinse your piercing under warm water to get rid of the dried discharged and chemicals that may have

formed. Avoid using soaps, makeup, or hair care products on your piercing.

You may experience some bleeding, redness, soreness, discharge, or swelling during the healing process. All of this is

normal in small amounts. If you are having constant or excessive problems, or if you notice bumps forming on your

piercing, consult your piercer for help. Caring for your new piercing properly is the best way to prevent problems before

they start.

For oral piercings:

Rinse mouth with cleaning solution (Listerine Zero or Biotene Dry mouth) for 30 seconds after meals and at bedtime (4-5 times daily) during the entire healing period. Cleaning too often or with too strong a rinse can cause discoloration and irritation of your mouth and piercing.

*For Smokers* Try to cut back or quit smoking during the healing process.

WHEN IN DOUBT, CONSULT WITH YOUR PIERCER!
